I remember a dish that looked like this described in a NYT article about Iranian food. It was the authors mother who made this dish and she wrote that she loved it when the rice at the bottom (before flipped) got slightly crispy. Thats what I think this dish looks like!
Is it persian pollo? or crusted rice?
Is it upside-down pilaf (lubia polo) with different ingredients this time? :)

I am not sure of the name exactly- but it looks like some kind of pulao/biryani with soy nuggets and pine nuts on top..But if I have to guess I'd say: Shirin plov?

I think its Upside down Rice/Risotto Pilaf.Uhmmmm guessing some shahi tukda kind of bread strips added.......is it Kasmiri/Persian recipe???

Hi Nupur. I have just begun 'one hot stov'ing' and I am having a lot of fun. I think this idea of posting a photograph first and keeping us poor hungry souls guessing for a complete day is ... what can I say... sweet torture..but a fantastic idea!! I am already salivating.
