Rice and beans is the stuff my weeknight dinners are made of. Filling, nutritious and comforting all at once. I am always looking for creative things to do with this familiar combo. Last night I was visiting ChaiPani and found a great recipe for
Lentil Wott, a tasty Ethiopian dish that I have often enjoyed at Ethiopian restaurants. It uses only basic ingredients and while the spices are familiar ones, I found the combination of spices quite unusual. I followed the recipe exactly as Ammani wrote it and the result was fabulous. I treated myself to a dinner of brown basmati rice topped with a fragrant spicy lentil curry.

Thanks for sharing Ammani! This recipe is a keeper.

this looks great!
Hi Nupur,
This looks almost like a lentil/tomato dish that I had recently at a mostly vegetarian Indian restaurant. I think I'm going to try this just to see what it tastes like.
Thanks for sharing!
masoorichi amti :-D
Hi Ann,
yes, it looked quite appetizing and tasted just as good!
Hi Reid and Manisha,
I know this LOOKS exactly like Indian lentil curries but the taste is completely different due to the unique spice mixture.
Hi Nupur, That looks just like the heartwarming food we need here in this miserable weather. Rain, rain and more rain.
By the way I've tagged you for the Childhood Food Memories meme and hope you will find time to write it.
